New Westchester location is 190 Route 117 in Bedford Hills, NY

Fresh Organic Salon opened recently in Westchester and is the first salon of its kind north of Manhattan, says owner Maureen Toohey. “This eco-chic salon is one of a kind. It doesn't smell like a salon, because there are no toxic chemical fumes lurking in the air," says Wendy Boyd, a guest of the salon. "And my scalp doesn't burn," adds Nicole Stumbo, another guest.

"Using organic and natural is not a trend for Maureen. She was born into it," says Salon Operational Manager Sandra Elezaj. "Maureen is among the pioneers in this movement for over 30 years, creating the awareness that beauty doesn’t have to be hazardous to your health,” adds Elezaj.

The salon features an extensive retail area, selling certified-organic, nutrient-rich haircare, skincare and makeup from around the world. “The companies we partner up with start at the root and meet the highest standards of well-being: organic, biodynamic farming and community fair trade,” explains Toohey. "The products we are most excited about are the gentle lightners that produce stunning blonding effects and Barely There cosmetics, which keep the skin healthy."

Fresh Organic Salon’s concept embraces the raw elements of the space. “Reclaimed lumber is used throughout, with repurposed furnishings. It is very down to earth,” says Toohey. Guests are served organic tea, coffee and Goddess water or can preorder healthy green drinks or a healthy meal.
